The First Lego Team Returns

THE FIRST LEGO LEAGUE RETURNS

Last year, Captain formed it’s very first First LEGOTM League(FLL).  This year, the group has formed again, with the now fifth graders, Scott McCary, Alex Elbert, Susana Boink, Issac Levine, Ava Marsden, Clark Campbell, Samuel Rosenzweig, Avie Mallon, Mattia Corbetta, and Ivy Reed.  These ten kids will build and program a LEGOTM  robot that they have designed themselves, using the EV3 Legomindstorm kit.  The team will have ten to twelve meetings to build and program their robot, depending on which weekend in November you and your team sign up for.  The challenges you will have to achieve with your robot will be called “Trash Treck”, so the challenges will be based on recycling and trash.  The challenges this year involve a setup that has one of the most complex mission, it is called, composting.  It has to do with timing, and it takes 20 seconds for the machine to turn one LEGO fish, two bones, one carrot, and two carrot tops, into compost, and you have to get the compost into a special container, and the machine just spits it out, so you have to put the container right under where it comes out.  Go Mini Greyhounds ( the fifth grade team name), and let the best robot win!
