You're Invited to the Poetry Slam

Since the beginning of the school year, the students have been learning about and writing poetry.  In celebration of their hard work and thoughtful writing, we will be presenting a poetry slam Friday morning at 9:00 in the Captain cafe.  Each student in class will share at least one original poem; some will choose to share up to three of their own pieces. 

We have found inspiration all around us.

This week we are working on finalizing our pieces and exploring how we share our poetry through spoken word.  We have been using the website for the Favorite Poem Project as inspiration as well: http://www.favoritepoem.org/

At the conclusion of our slam, the students will elect a class poet laureate based on the poems shared.  We would be honored to have you join us in this celebration and look forward to seeing many of you there!
